41 days old

He passed his eye exam with flying colors. No amblyopia (thank goodness). He has officially gained 2 pounds since he was born. He has grown 3 inches in length. He is developmentally hitting the same milestones as a newborn who is born full-term. He's starting to get fussy and he cries when he's hungry and I'm taking too long to feed him. It sounds a lot like a newborn baby. The only difference is, he's only 34 1/2 weeks gestational age and is still working on maintaining his temperature.

By the way, Andy and I are just fine with him staying in the hospital until he's ready to come home. We don't want him to come home and then have to go back into the hospital. He still has bradys (which scare the shit out of me) and is borderline on his temp. Like Dr. Haynes said yesterday, he's just a little guy.

He's doing so well in all of the other areas, most people assume that he should be ready to go home. He's not. He'll let us know when he is. He's a Smith/Bayles and by nature is an over-achiever but he's also stubborn. When he's 36 weeks gestational age (January 29), he'll start turning the corner. Just you wait and see.
